The
tech editor who edited my first published crochet pattern a few years ago gave
me lots of helpful feedback and encouragement. She also told me that it would
always exciting to see one of my designs in print, whether it's my first published
pattern or my hundredth. She was right! I always look forward to the release
date of an issue that includes one of my projects. Usually many months have
gone by since I've sent the finished model and instructions to the editors, so
it's always fun to see how the item was styled and photographed.
Here's
a peek at the designs that have been published over the past few weeks and
months. I've added links to the publications in the descriptions below.
Top

Rhythm
Tote from Issue 6 of We Crochet magazine. It's made
with Knit Picks Curio #3 in Clarity and Kenai. This mercerized cotton crochet
thread comes in 23 gorgeous colors. You can order a copy of the magazine (and
the yarn too) on the We Crochet website. Tester: Tacia McIntosh; (Instagram:
@joannascrochet). Photography: ©WeCrochet.
Textured Pouf from Crochet Home, a special issue
from Crochet! magazine. I had a lot of fun arranging the increases to
create the spiral effect I wanted. The issue is filled with crochet projects in
a range of styles. You can order a copy at Annie's Catalog.
I have to admit, I love this Peacock Pincushion I designed for
Annie's Springtime Sewing: 20+ Quick & Easy Projects Special issue. It's made with wool felt
from National Nonwovens—one of my favorite crafting materials. You can order a
copy of the issue at Annie's Catalog. Photography: Annie's.
Bottom
row, left to right:
From Annie's Springtime Sewing: 30+ Quick & Easy Projects special issue—A Little Birdie Told Me Memo Board (issue is available on newsstands). You can hang notes from the strands of cord with mini clothes pins or use push pins to fasten them to the foam-core board concealed between the felt panels. FYI: I'm not on Twitter, so this is probably the only tweet you'll ever see from me. Wool felt is from National Nonwovens. Photography: Annie's.
My Petals Pillow gave me the perfect opportunity to use the
pink and green prints—and pink buttons—that have been hiding in my stash. Find
the pattern in the Spring 2021 issue of Quilter's World available, at Annie's Catalog. Wool felt is from National Nonwovens. Photography:
Annie's.
I dyed these skeins for my article Colorful Cotton: Dye
Your Own Yarn, featured in the April 2021 issue of Crochet World magazine. So
much fun—and the process is much easier than I thought it would be! You can order
a copy of the issue at Annie's Catalog and read all about it. (In
case you're wondering, I call this color Wild Iris.)
