American Patchwork & Quilting: June 2019 cover

American Patchwork & Quilting

This year, American Patchwork & Quilting magazine is publishing a different pincushion pattern in each monthly issue. Such a great idea, right? Well, I'm thrilled to reveal that my sewing machine pincushion will be featured in the June issue, which comes out on April 5th! The photo above gives you a peek at what the layout looks like.

An homage to the vintage sewing machine, the design is appliqued with WoolFelt from National Nonwovens onto cheery blue and green cotton prints. You can find the instructions and full-size patterns inside the issue. Look for it--here's the cover photo on the right--on newsstands this Friday.
Annie's Weekend Sewing cover

Annie's Weekend Sewing

The editors of Quilter's World  magazine, which is part of the Annie's craft magazine group, just released a special newsstand--Annie's Weekend Sewing. As the title suggests, it's filled with simple sewing and quilting projects. I'm proud to say that I designed two of those projects.

One is a WoolFelt pincushion that's appliqued with colorful spools of thread. A large spool on the back of the pincushion has a pocket for holding scissors and other little necessities. (See the photos below.)

The other design is a bread bag pieced from cheery graphic print fabrics and embellished with embroidery and rickrack. Much prettier than a plain paper bread bag, don't you think?
Here's the front of the Thread Spools Pincushion (above) . . . and here's the back (photo below). Do you see the hidden pocket?
